Since I was a little girl, my sister and I were HUGE crafters. We loved making bracelets, painting, playing with different materials and creating wonderful, beautiful and strange pieces.
Real Estate, especially house design can be such a beautiful expression of your own creativity, but there are a few important things to consider when designing a place for other people.
- Functionality – does the design have function for the homeowner and will it be an effective use of space?
- Practicality – does your design appeal to more than one person (i.e. other than your fabulous self?). Is your design a practical choice for the area, market you are designing for? If you go and paint the whole kitchen lime green, make sure that your market or audience is into that choice of colour.
- Consistency – In all my years of experience the one thing that sets homes apart from others, is the attention to detail. Make sure that whatever design decisions you decide to journey forth with you ensure there is consistent attention to detail, and that all pieces of your project are finished with a flair of professionalism.
